Short Term Hair Removal Options For Men

With the advent of the metrosexual man, who is as concerned as his female counterpart about factors such as physical grooming, hair removal for men has become a very important subject. With women, interest in and knowledge about hair removing methods is something that seems to come about almost naturally, however men may feel a little at a loss.

Women do tend to know that hair removal products and methods include the usual – waxing, epilating, shaving, using depilatory creams and so on and that more long term solutions can be brought about by using laser hair removal or electrolysis. The same methods can work for men as well though there are pros and cons regarding each.

Waxing as a Hair Removal Option for Men – it isn’t just the sticky waxes of days gone past, but today creamy lotions that stick only to the skin are also offered by salons that do men’s waxing. Depending upon what and how much area is required to be waxed, the procedure could take between 10 and 60 minutes. This can be done in pretty much any area – the neck and ears, eyebrows, forehead, arms, legs, underarms, back, chest and yes even the genital area, though this, it has to be said, is not for the faint hearted, as it can really hurt. Full body waxing for men may not be offered by all salons, so check to see which ones do and if you have never had waxing done before, it is best to have it done professionally.

Shaving to Remove Male Body Hair – Long hinged handles on shavers mean that men can reach any area of the back, the shoulders and even the rear end or buttocks. Shaving may come easy to men as most include shaving in their daily grooming routine. However this offers only a short or limited period of hairlessness and within practically a few hours the hair will start to appear again. There is also the problem of ingrown hair which can be painful and may even lead to skin infections. Also after a few days, there will be stiff, uncomfortable stubble to deal with here.

Using Depilatory Creams to Remove Male Body Hair – This can be a hassle free and painless way to remove hair – just apply the cream, wait for some minutes and then scrape it off along with the hair. The down side to this kind of hair removal is that it may cause adverse skin reactions for certain people, because of the chemical content. It can cause rashes, redness, bumpiness of skin and burning or itching. Some may find that depilatory creams cause blistering and so this may not be suitable for sensitive skins. For the same reason, it may not be able to be used in the genital area since the skin here is sensitive too. This is also a short term solution for hair removal after which the hair will grow back.
